The offshore Mumbai High field located north-west of Mumbai is India’s largest oil field and is operated by ONGC. Reserves have also been discovered in offshore Bay of Bengal and Rajasthan. Cairn Energy has recently commenced production in its recent discovery with a peak output that could potentially contribute one-fifth of the nation’s total output.

India has ~ 38 TCF of proven natural gas reserves with most of the production coming from fields off the western coast.
